Blinds Blinds On The Window… Which One To Choose?

Blinds have an alluring simplicity and charm that has pretty much outdone the grandeur that people once sought with frilly curtains and fabricated pelmets with as many tassels hanging here and there as… the number of countries on the map. Other than the fact that blinds make your home look clean and wonderful, they also open up a lot more options for decorating and customizing your interior as they are a lot more easier to personalize.

But before you jump into customizing your interior decor, it’s best to understand your space and what type of blinds you should be using. Keeps (sc)rolling!

Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds, also known as track blinds comprise of vertically hanging slats made of a variety of materials from aluminum to wood, plastic to cellular screens and textiles. These blinds are great for covering large openings and are thus best used in front of big windows and sliding doors. The best thing about vertical blinds is that they help you control the amount of light you want passing through the window and go a long way in improving energy efficiency.

Roller Blinds

Roller blinds HAVE to be the most widely used blinds all over the world… in buildings with windows of course. These are generally done in plastic or vinyl, but they undoubtedly look the best in furnishing fabrics and printable paper. The usage of a blackout lining behind the blind makes them ideal places that require absolute concentration and no disturbance – we mean boardrooms and bedrooms. And when it comes to customization… your imagination is your limit!

Roman Blinds

On a first inattentive glance, you might think that romans and rollers are well… the same thing. But actually they aren’t. Roman blinds comprise of woven slats and are thus not as impermeable to sunlight as roller blinds. So if you fancy a totally dark room, these aren’t for you. But if you want a more opulent feel to your decor, then these should be your pick. Given their aesthetic nature, you’ll almost often see them in luxury textiles.

Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds are an avant garde spin on primitive window coverings made out of wooden shafts fastened together. As the name suggests, these are great for adding a bit of sophistication to your decor. And just like vertical blinds, these too help regulate the amount of light entering the room through thin horizontal openings. People generally prefer using these in corporate places because they are generally made of metal and wood. The only exceptions to this rule though are the kitchen and the bathroom… because venetians are great for providing cover and ventilation at the same time.

Hope this helps you pull a string!
